The joy of painting came at a very young age, as with many artists. In grammar school several of my teachers encouraged me to pursue a career in the field of art as they felt I had some talent. Like most children, where there is encouragement, one begins to believe what one is told. I continued to pursue drawing and painting through high school and college taking all the art courses afforded me.
I would like to say, "so began my career in fine art," but life is an adventure and my dream was not yet a reality. I left for Viet Nam.

In 1972 I met my beautiful wife and we were married within a year. During this time a friend who had an outdoor advertising company called and asked me to help him with some of his projects. The first of which was a highway billboard. In March of 1974 we moved from the big city to a small town in the Sierras where we wanted to raise our family and I started my own business in commercial outdoor advertising. |

My business turned out to be a great outlet for creative expression. As a designer, I would create logos, murals and a vast amount of woodcarving. To my surprise, my work was displayed in a national Sign publication. I have sold my outdoor advertising art as far away as New York City.

Over the years I have continued to paint and draw, as time would permit, because my desire has always been to create fine art. During this time I have sold a number of oil paintings through bank showings; even trading one piece of art to have my house, studio and garage painted. |

At the end of 2005, the opportunity presented itself to pursue my painting career full time and live my dream! What you see on this site are my current works. I have always received the most pleasure from painting Western and Wildlife Art. The only time I would stray from the American West is when I would paint the big cats like the tiger in "Bamboo Lair."

The creeks portrayed in many of my pieces are actual sites my wife and I have hiked to. If you have ever hiked any of these creeks: Lewis Creek, Willow Creek, or Whiskey Creek, etc., below Yosemite National Park, you may recognize them.

A few of my subjects are on the endangered species list and are existing in captivity for their preservation. This existence though necessary is unnatural. Therefore, I visualize and create. I can free and restore these beautiful creatures in my oil paintings where they rightfully belong, "in their natural habitat."
Thanks again for your interest in my work. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me.
